Browns NFL Quarterback Baker Mayfield gives back to students

OBERLIN -- Students from the Boys and Girls Club Virtual Learning Center in Oberlin were treated to an early holiday Thursday afternoon thanks to Browns NFL Quarterback Baker Mayfield. Guitars, remote-control cars, basketballs, and of course, footballs, were given to students attending the Boys and Girls Club Virtual Learning Center.

On Thursday, Mr. Mayfield, along with his wife, Emily Wilkinson, had the gifts delivered to local organizations helping students this holiday season. In all, $5,000 worth of toys were donated to the Oberlin students.

One of the stops just happened to be the Boys and Girls Club Virtual Learning Center inside Eastwood and Prospect elementary schools said Director of Family and Student Support Services Mr. Jay Nimene.

“The kindness shown to our students from Mr. Mayfield and his wife warmed their hearts this holiday season. No one was expecting this amazing, selfless gift,” Mr. Nimene said.

Oberlin City Schools Superintendent Dr. David Hall was enthusiastic about the donation to the students.

“We had no idea our students would be on the receiving end of Mr. Mayfield and his wife’s generosity, and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts this holiday season,” Dr. Hall said.
