OBERLIN HIGH SCHOOL NAMED ‘BEST HIGH SCHOOL’ IN AMERICA
OBERLIN -- Oberlin High School was named “Best High School in America” based on the 2020 U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools rankings.
Oberlin High School ranked #939 in the 2020 National Rankings where schools were ranked on their performance on state-required tests, graduations and how well they prepare students for college. Oberlin High School ranked #32 in Ohio Schools and #11 in Cleveland Metro-Area High Schools. Oberlin High School’s overall score was 94.72/100.
Aiding in helping Oberlin High School achieve the special distinction is the District’s International Baccalaureate coursework and exams which has a 76 percent participation rate from students, said Oberlin City Schools Superintendent Dr. David Hall.
“We are very honored to have received this distinction from the U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools rankings,” Dr. Hall said. “I’d like to personally thank all of the teachers, staff and administration who have put forth the time and effort to see that our students receive the best education. Special thanks to Oberlin’s International Baccalaureate Coordinator Ms. Becky Lahetta.”
Oberlin High School was the only school within Lorain County to be included in the top 32 schools. Avon Lake High School ranked 33 with Avon High School ranking 47.
In total, 17,792 schools were nationally ranked and 691 schools were ranked in Ohio, according to the U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools. The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 24,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Nearly 18,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.
