Oberlin City Schools Monthly Update

February

NO SCHOOL: Oberlin City Schools will not have school on Friday, February 16 and Monday, February 19, 2018

Oberlin High School Basketball:

The administrative staff met with our basketball/cheerleading students and parents last week. We met for the following reasons: to listen, discuss, provide support, publically announce the latest updates, and to articulate how proud we are of the sportsmanlike conduct exhibited by Oberlin during the game.

The district would like to clarify that Oberlin City Schools DID NOT have any students or parents involved in an altercation during the Fairview/Oberlin game, in spite of the newspaper reporting’s.

Oberlin City Schools is committed to the following tasks moving forward:

  • We will have an additional administrator attend the remaining away basketball games to provide support for our cheerleaders and basketball team.
  • We are currently collaborating with the YWCA to organize a Tolerance and Anti Hate assembly with our students at OHS. The assembly will allow our students an opportunity to speak up and speak out.
  • We have expressed our concerns with the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), Athletic Conference (P.A.C), and county Athletic Directors and regional Superintendents.
